Link To Krafters Bazaar
October 27/28, 2006
The Sun Lakes
United Methodist Church Krafters was formed approximately 15
years ago when a small group began meeting in the storage room
behind Lindsay Hall to create crafts for an annual
Bazaar. After the new sanctuary was built the Krafters
were allowed to utilize the annex building as their work
space which has proved
to be a godsend, as the membership
has increased to approximately 50 members.
We still use
the storage room and frequently the parlor, as places to
work. Some of the people prefer to just come in and pick up
items to work on at their homes. Plans begin for the
annual bazaar early in January with a kickoff "Show and Tell"
meeting to help decide which items presented will be
suitable, doable and saleable. Working every Monday from
about 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., we create a wide assortment of
craft items including floral arrangements and wreaths, hand
painted items for the Fall and Winter holidays, and doll
and young girls clothing just to mention a small portion of
the work that is accomplished.
Slightly used treasures
are collected throughout the year for the Unique Boutique and
a wonderful variety of baked goods are prepared just prior to
the Bazaar for the bake sale. The Bazaar generally is held in the fall - two consecutive days.
Proceeds from the Bazaar are given to the church
for improvements. In 2003 we were pleased to
provide a substantial donation towards the purchase of
the organ in the new chapel and in 2004, $3,000 was
donated to the Parish Nurse towards the purchase of (on
premises) defibrillators and $11,000 to the Board of Trustees
for improvement of the lighting in Lindsay
Hall.
Anyone is welcome to join our group.
We have a lot of fun making our creations, itıs a
fabulous way to meet new people and the fellowship it provides
is wonderful.
