We are always pleased to welcome visitors at our worship services or other events and hope you will visit us soon. If there is anything the staff can do to help with your visit, please contact us in the Church Office at 480-895-8766. We are located at 9248 East Riggs Road in Sun Lakes (just East of Sun Lakes Boulevard stoplight).
Our worship services are at 8:15 and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings during the winter when most of our winter visitors are with us – October through April. The services are usually led by the Sr. Pastor, Rev. Marvin Arnpriester. Then during the warmer months we have one service at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings – May through September. Our air-conditioned Sanctuary seats around 600 people and we enjoy beautiful music by our 75-member choir. During the summer months, we have a smaller Summer Choir. We have ample parking for you, including disabled parking spaces located quite close to the Sanctuary doors on the east side of the campus. As you enter the building, you will be met at the door by greeters, who will be happy to help you in any way they can. They will give you a welcome bag containing information about the church for you to read at your leisure. We have a Saturday Service at 4 p.m. for those who cannot make the Sunday Worship Service, in our Chapel. The Chapel seats about 80 people comfortably and offers a more relaxed, yet traditional worship time with the service usually being led by Rev. Arnpriester or our Associate Pastor.
We have an active Sunday School for adults. If you are interested in visiting this class, they meet at 10:20 a.m. in Room 1 of the Education Building, after the worship service and fellowship coffee time. This class is open to all and the participants love to have visitors. If you would like to have more information, please speak to one of the greeters on Sunday morning, or call the church office.
You will find there are literally dozens of activities available at Sun Lakes UMC for those interested in joining others of like minds in active participation in our Church Community. The exercise classes are offered year round, and others periodically or when interest is shown. Classes are offered by our Faith Community Nurse on various interesting subjects, and occasionally by other groups or organizations from outside the Church. Additional classes include those on finance, planned giving, final arrangements and other legal issues.
We have Bible studies, prayer shawl knitters, and many opportunities for putting your craft talents to good use. Our United Methodist Women’s organization is very active in local missions, and provides interesting and informative programs to which all are invited. We also have an active United Methodist Men’s Gathering once a month with interesting topics to share.
If music is your passion, then our choir is the place for you. The choir provides special programs throughout the year, as well as being a huge blessing for all who hear them sing during each Sunday service.
