United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the Church.
UMW is a sisterhood of grace. Every day, members of UMW put their faith, hope, and love into acton as they organize for mission in communities close to home and around the world. Through mission giving, education, and advocacy, UMW works to bring God’s vision to the world.
Who is a member of United Methodist Women? Membership is open to any woman who indicates her desire to belong and participate in the global mission of the Church through UMW, and who actively chooses to become involved in the organization’s mission. She may choose to join one of the three organized Circles of the Church — Reading/Bible Study, Christian Fellowship, Faith — or to be a member at large and participate in mission in other ways. UMW welcomes with joy all women into our sisterhood.
This is a very special year for UMW as we celebrate the 150th year as women organized for mission. SLUMC has the privilege of hosting the Annual Conference on October 25 and 26, 2019. More information will be provided as it develops.
