Pastor's Message

Senior Pastor – Larry Gerber - Wife - Jane

My Prayer at the beginning of each day goes something like this: "Give me o God, the responsibility for what I do and do not do. Amen"

As we enter the new millennium, we as Sun Lakes United Methodist Church will look back to 1987, we will revisit the dreams and aspirations of those who chartered this church. We will offer praises for a job well done in the construction of the buildings we are enjoying. We will envision that which is ahead of us, as Sun Lakes, Sunbird, Springfield, etc. continue to grow. What will be our mission? What is our vision? Where are we headed?

Any successful business or organization has clearly defined goals, which it sets out to achieve. Without such goals that integrate the church’s vision statement, personnel, resources, and capital, much effort would be wasted. Our vision is to be in ministry to those who desire a closer walk with their Lord and Savior. Our mission is to put the equipment into gear that will get the job done.

Jesus reminds us over and over of the importance of having a sense of responsibility for the lives of those to whom we are sent. (Read again "The Beatitudes," (Matthew 5:1-11)

Each decision we make, each action we take all has consequences. With a sense of responsibility for what we do and what we do not do, church ministry will experience genuine and honest change.

As the community grows, we are challenged to grow with it, yet, keep the vision and mission of the church in the forefront of all our actions.

May the peace of Christ be within each one of us, so that the love of Christ will touch others.

Peace and Love,

Larry
