Dianne Adcox is joining us in profession of faith. She grew up in Chicago and moved to Indiana where she married and had two sons. Dianne’s travels led her first to Arizona where she lived for twenty years, then to Rosarito Beach, Mexico, San Diego, and Clarksville, Tennessee. She then made her final move back to Arizona and intends to stay! She is retired from Fedex and enjoys interior design. Her sister, Patti Steffensen, is also joining SLUMC.
Elaine Isaacson is transferring her membership from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Elaine grew up on a farm near Centerville, South Dakota. She attended Augustana College, taught in elementary school and had a second career as a realtor. She married Don Isaacson and they have two daughters. In 2012 both Don and her daughter, Lisa, passed and are Elaine’s treasures in heaven. She moved to Sun Lakes in 2015 to be close to her daughter, Cheryl. Her joys are her two grandchildren. In her retirement, Elaine’s hobbies are golf, computers and music.
Al and Anne Livingston are transferring their membership from Greater Bethel AME Church in Phoenix. Al was born and raised in southern California and attended Long Beach Community College. He is retired from 35 years at Interstate Brands Corporation. Anne attended DePaul University in Chicago before moving to California. She is retired from 30 years at the Los Angeles County Dept. of Social Services. Al’s hobbies are golf, traveling, music and politics. He is proud of his family and 42 years of marriage to Anne. He enjoys long-standing relationships with family and friends. Anne’s hobbies are golf, dance, movies, reading and traveling. The highlights of her life have been serving in church for over 25 years – she has been a member of the Finance Committee, Stewardship Board, Youth Director and Women’s Missionary Society.
Teri Nasett is joining us in profession of faith. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Louisiana with her grandparents. She joined the US Navy in 1967 and met her husband. They moved to Arizona from Wisconsin in 1995 and were married 46 years before he passed earlier this year. Teri retired from Apache Wells Mesa HOA. She enjoys board and card games, bowling, crocheting, golf, puzzles, making Prayer Shawls and has been involved in the SLUMC Krafters.
Dick and Jeanne Porter are joining us in reaffirming their faith. They are from Connecticut, where Dick retired from New Canaan High as a teacher and a member of the Connecticut Board of Education; and Jean as a member of the University of Bridgeport Faculty. The highlights of their lives have been raising their three sons and their 75 year marriage that will be celebrated this year. They have both enjoyed extensive RV traveling and island cruising. Jean’s hobbies are embroidery, golf and sewing. Dick’s hobbies have been woodworking, golf and sports. Dick proudly adds he earned his Eagle Scout rank in his earlier years.
Paul and Claire Smith – Paul is reaffirming his faith and Claire is transferring her membership from Mount Pisgah UMC in Johns Creek, Georgia. Paul grew up a native Detroiter in a large wonderful family and says he had the “best mom in the world.” He attended Michigan State and received a degree in Business Administration and Mathematics. After a very successful corporate management career with 3M and IHS Group, he retired early. Claire was raised in Farmington and attended the University of Michigan. She also experienced a wonderful family growing up and together they were active in scouting and camping. Once retired, Paul and Claire sold almost everything they had and commissioned a 50-foot sailing yacht where they lived aboard for the next 10 years while sailing the Atlantic. Paul is a great admirer of classic cars and fine sailboats, enjoys reading action adventure novels and cooking Italian. Claire cherishes helping family during challenging seasons in their lives. She enjoys gardening, history, travel, reading and sailing.
Denny and Katie Steele – Denny is joining us as an Associate Ecumenical Christian and Katie is transferring from Aldersgate UMC in Palo Alto, California. Denny was born in Colorado and raised in California. He has worked and traveled all over the world and is retired from NXP Semiconductors in engineering and marketing of power chips for cell phones and electronics. Katie was raised in a Buddhist family. She was guided to the gospel over and over again. Katie has called Japan, Taiwan, and the U.S. home. She went to graduate school in New Jersey, and is retired from teaching Japanese Culture and Language. Denny and Katie moved to Arizona in January of this year. Together, they have five children and four grandchildren. Katie enjoys visiting art museums, ethnic food and internet surfing. Denny’s hobbies are family history, learning Japanese, travel and writing.
Patti Steffensen is transferring her membership from First United Methodist Church of Bensenville, Illinois. She lived in Chicago before moving to Arizona in June after the death of her husband of 46 years. She has two daughters and six grandchildren. She is currently owner/ broker of Community Real Estate Service. She enjoys bible study, water aerobics, yoga, dog training, reading and music. Sister Dianne Adcox is also joining SLUMC.
Grace Taylor is transferring her membership from Shepherd of the Hills UMC in Sun City West. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. After raising her family, she returned to school for her degree. She sold real estate for a few years, before working for the City of San Jose, where she retired from the Department of Parks and Recreation. Grace moved to Sun City West in 1998, then to the Sun Lakes area a year ago. The highlight of Grace’s life was her 51-year marriage to Jim. She enjoys church events, family, reading and traveling.
Genie Wall is transferring her membership from First United Methodist Church of Deming, New Mexico. She is retired from telecommunications in Denver, Colorado, where she worked for 40 years. Her family has been the highlight of her life. She enjoys volunteering.
