Chuck and Laurie CarothersChuck and Laurie Carothers are transferring their membership from Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Libertyville, Illinois. Chuck grew up in Racine, Wisconsin and is retired as Director of Student Financial Aid. He has obtained five college degrees and worked in student financial aid for over forty years at various colleges and universities in the Midwest. He has proudly served in the US Army. Laurie is from Evanston, Illinois and is a retired physician with the Veterans Administration. Together they have five children and four grandchildren. They enjoy golf, hiking, bowling, softball, running and weight training.

Alex and Donna Dershimer are transferring their membership from South Mountain Community Church in Saint George, Utah. Alex grew up in San Jose, California and is retired from Wells Fargo Bank. His highlights are his wife and three children, being an Eagle Scout, and serving in the US Army. He enjoys sports, reading the bible, and history. Donna is from Los Angeles, California and is retired from the insurance industry. She enjoys walking, reading, and playing cards. She and Alex have been married for 52 years and have three children. 

Clyde and Donna McLeod are joining us as Associate Members with The First Presbyterian Church of Anchorage, Alaska. Clyde was born in Alamosa, Colorado and grew up in Phoenix and Alaska. Out of high school he worked with his dad in commercial fishing as a deckhand. He attended Alaska Methodist University and received his masters degree from the University of Alaska. Clyde is retired from the Anchorage School District and Juvenile Detention Center as a PE teacher and counselor.  He has a state building dedicated in his name in Anchorage: the “Clyde A. McLeod Gymnasium.” He enjoys fly fishing, hunting, hiking, golf, playing basketball with the grandchildren, and traveling.  Donna is a farm girl from Ohio. She attended Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She is retired as an RN kidney transplant coordinator. She has volunteered her nursing skills in Africa, Russia, South Korea, India and Cambodia. She was president of “Partnership in Health for Africa” for eight years. Donna enjoys gardening, flower arranging, reading, fishing, hunting, and traveling. They have two children and six wonderful grandchildren.

Lyle and Ruth Miller are transferring their membership from Dix United Methodist Church in Lincoln Park, Michigan. They both refer to Lincoln Park, Michigan as home. They are enjoying retirement – Lyle, from the University of Michigan and Ruth, from Target. They have two lovely children and a 19-year-old Labradoodle grand-dog named Molly. Their hobbies include cooking, golf, exercise and biking.  

Dennis and Darlene Naugle are joining us as Affiliate Members of University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Dennis grew up in Chapel Hill and received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Flint Michigan and two graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina, a master’s and a PhD. He is retired from 20 years in the US Air Force as Lieutenant Colonel and 20 years at Research Triangle Institute. He enjoys golf, hiking and watching UNC basketball. Darlene grew up in the Amish country of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She is a retired medical secretary. She enjoyed being a military wife and loved traveling across the U.S. with Dennis. She enjoys cooking, traveling, gardening, decorating, and entertaining. They have one son and love being in Arizona during the winter season – where life is good!      

Kathleen Trenam is joining us in re-affirmation of faith. Kathleen was born in Canada and raised in San Francisco. She is a retired legal secretary.  As an Air Force wife, she lived in Germany for 11 years and moved to Arizona 22 years ago. She and her husband, Jim, enjoy traveling in their RV and have spent summers in Alaska. They enjoyed a Mediterranean cruise last May and are looking forward to the Holy Land and Egypt trip next March. Her hobbies are playing bocce ball, learning golf, reading, crocheting, scrapbooking and journaling their travels. She loves being Grandma to five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all who live locally.
