Stephen Ministry

"Walk together in love... Grow together in Christ."

Sun Lakes United Methodist Church has a very active Stephen Ministry. Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who provide one-to-one caring ministry to people experiencing grief, divorce, loneliness, loss of a loved one, job loss, hospitalization, and many other life difficulties. Our Stephen Ministers are prayerfully matched with our Church members and other people who are going through a stressful time or life difficulty. A Stephen Minister meets with this person once a week for about an hour to listen, care, encourage and pray. The Stephen Minister brings Christ’s presence into the person’s life and also experiences Christ in the other person. It is really a life-changing ministry for both the care receiver and the Stephen Minister.
“Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2
Did you know that Sun Lakes United Methodist Church is one of more than 10,000 Stephen Ministry congregations — from more than 100 denominations — worldwide? Since 1975 more than half a million Stephen Ministers have been trained, providing care to more than two million people in need.
