Who We Are and What We Believe

Who We Are

At Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, you’ll find a community that welcomes you as you are, cares deeply for one another, and works together to make a difference in our neighborhood and beyond. We value connection, compassion, and curiosity—creating space for people to belong, grow, and serve.

A Community of Connection

We offer a wide range of opportunities to get involved, meet new friends, and stay active. From crafting and fitness classes to educational programs, small groups, and community events, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re exploring new interests or looking to make a meaningful impact, you’ll find a place here.

Why United Methodist?

United Methodists are shaped by a warm, thoughtful faith that invites both heart and mind. We:

• Proclaim the Gospel with hope and joy
• Encourage a personal relationship with Christ
• Welcome people from diverse backgrounds
• Serve locally and globally with compassion
• Support one another through all of life’s seasons
• Give generously through prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness
• We believe that faith is lived out in community as we follow Jesus together.

What We Believe

Our preaching and teaching are grounded in Scripture, informed by Christian tradition, enlivened by personal experience, and guided by reason.

We believe in a God of grace—unconditional, steadfast, and life-changing.
We believe Jesus reveals this grace through his life, death, and resurrection.
We believe the Holy Spirit moves among us, empowering us to love as God loves.
And we believe the church is called to embody Christ in the world by offering hope, healing, generosity, and welcome.

Our Wesleyan Roots

Inspired by John Wesley, we seek to live out “practical divinity”—a faith that is active, personal, and grounded in everyday life. We emphasize growing in love, serving others, and practicing spiritual disciplines that shape us into people of compassion and purpose.
